A truly interactive insurance company

Ineas insures on-line

Today, a new insurance company will step into the market: Ineas Insurance Company N.V., located in Amsterdam. Ineas is a leading international property insurer and the first company in Europe to be specifically set-up to use the interactive possibilities provided by the Internet.

“The new distribution channel offers the private consumer the opportunity to insure efficiently, directly and at any time” says founder Mr Niek W. Ligtelijn, who has an outstanding track record in the insurance industry as a director of a number of insurance companies in various European countries, including Fortis. Ligtelijn also held several positions in the Insurers Association and was Chairman of the Insurance Beurs in Amsterdam. “One of the motivations behind this project is that market research points to strong world-wide growth of e-commerce, including for insurance as evidenced in other countries” explains Ligtelijn. Ineas provides the Internet user with the option of buying insurance in a convenient, efficient and interactive way. Additionally, the customer can manage all of his or her insurances on the Ineas site and in the event of a loss, track the progress of the settlement process on-line. Moreover, Ineas offers a personal service by providing tailored and practical information via the internet on personal risk management.Top of page

Efficiency, quality, competitive prices

Initially, the on-line offer consists of car, home, liability and accident insurance. Ineas will start its activities in the Netherlands via its web site www.ineas.nl and shortly thereafter expand to Germany and Belgium, followed by other European countries.

Making use of the latest communication and information technologies, the company is able to save costs, thereby achieving an efficient and high quality service at competitive prices. In order to support the decision-making process the customer can use information provided in PRIMES® (Personal Risk Management). By Inventory and calculator tools within PRIMES® the customer can evaluate their risks and decide which - if any - prevention measures need to be taken.

Institutional investors, from Switzerland, USA, UK and the Netherlands, with a thorough knowledge of the insurance business, provide the required capital. Mr N.W. Ligtelijn is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ineas. Management consists of six European professionals, assisted by a team of highly experienced managers and specialists from the insurance industry and related fields. This organisation is supported by an international network of leading companies in the areas of information technology, claims, underwriting and marketing.
